The Centre is run from the Potchefstroom Hospital premises, headed by Mpho. The centre is for sexually assaulted and domestically abused women, men and children (open 24/7). The centre was opened in order to bridge the gap of a victim waiting with other hospital patients after an incident has taken place and allowing for them to get immediate assistance from the on-call nurses (specially assigned to the centre). The Centre has been struggling with supplies for the victims (after being checked by the doctors) such as clothing, toiletries and food.
StitchWise then took the initiative to donate toiletry bags filled with: bathing soap, washing rag, toothbrush, toothpaste, body lotion, earbuds, roll on, body spray and sanitary towels. We intend on making this a re-occuring event, as the staff of StitchWise all personally donated toiletries and feel that this initiative is a worthy one that assists many people in and around our community.
